Your weekend in art: April 10-12

Work some culture into your weekend with a jaunt to a gallery or three. Since it's graduation season, thesis shows have been popping in and out of university galleries and alt spaces. Here's a spotlight on RIT's crop of graduating artists, as well as a maker fair. For more art events, visit our calendar!

An opening for various Graduate Thesis Exhibitions will be held tonight, 5 to 7 p.m. at Bevier Gallery (James E. Booth Hall, Rochester Institute of Technology, 73 Lomb Memorial Drive). The show features the work of MFA candidates in RIT's School of Art, School of Design, and School for American Crafts, and remains on view through May 2. More information is available here.

A closing reception for "Liminal Madness," RIT's School of Art, Senior Fine Arts Studio Exhibition will be held tonight, 7 to 9 p.m., at Gallery r (100 College Avenue). The exhibition incorporates a variety of processes including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and installation by 10 graduating seniors. The work will remain on view through April 19. The opening reception for another graduate thesis show, "When Coal Was King," by Rachele Trzcinski, will be held tonight at 7 p.m. at Geisel Gallery (1 Bausch & Lomb Place). The show features sculpture, installations, and works on paper, and will remain on view through April 30. More info can be found here.

Rochester Brainery (The Village Gate, 274 North Goodman Street, Suite B134) will host another Brainery Bazaar on Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Explore the work of a variety of talented, indie, local artists, makers, and bakers. For more info and to preview the offerings, click this.
