Developers Anthony and Brett Costello are rebooting their proposed CityGate project in Rochester, revealing at a press conference this morning that Costco will be CityGate's anchor tenant. CityGate would be located at the former Iola Campus at the intersection of East Henrietta and Westfall roads.

A previous CityGate design has already been approved by the City of Rochester. Anthony Costello said this morning that a new application would be submitted to the city.

The Costellos announced at the press conference that Costco has proposed building a 150,000 square foot warehouse store at the CityGate site, although a press release says they're still negotiating terms with the company. They plan on the store opening in spring 2014, the release says. Costco is known for paying its employees good wages and providing them with benefits. And the release says the store will create between 250 and 300 full-time equivalent jobs.

The Costellos also announced that they plan to partner with Morgan Management to construct 300 two- and three-bedroom residential units at the site. The proposed project also includes a 150-room hotel, a satellite transit center for the Rochester Genesee Regional Transportation Authority and accompanying parking garage, and other retail and commercial space.
