A march will be held later today in solidarity with protests in Baltimore over the death of Freddie Gray. The Black Lives Matter march begins at 3 p.m. today (Friday, May 1) in front of Wilson Foundation Academy, 200 Genesee Street.
Gray was mortally injured while in the custody of Baltimore police last month. His death has been ruled a homicide. Police Commissioner Anthony Batts said that officers failed to get Gray timely medical attention and that Gray was not buckled in while being transported to the police station. Exactly how Gray was injured is still not clear.
But Gray's death has led to an ongoing series of protests — some violent — and more accusations of police brutality. Events are planned all over the country during the next few days to support protesters in Baltimore. Related hashtags: #blacklivesmatter #blackspring
