ENVIRONMENT: Protect Corbett's Glen

Published on Oct 09, 2007

Even though I don't live in Penfield, I care about Corbett's Glen Park. It is a beautiful area and very much worth keeping recreational.

How can the Towns of Penfield and Brighton even think of allowing the building of office space near this rare natural setting? Do they really need the tax revenue more than they need to protect this small parcel of nature? I would think the citizens of Brighton would get more benefit from having this beautiful park in their town.

I hope that the people of Penfield and Brighton stand firm to keep this lovely area the way it is, so it may be enjoyed by many future generations.

In too many places, I see old buildings either empty or being torn down, while newer ones are built. Why can't a company buy and fix up an old building? Why is it cheaper to tear a building down than it is to refurbish it? Why do companies and people have to have newer and bigger buildings while overlooking what is already there?

How will this new development affect the wildlife in and around the park?

I can't help thinking about Joni Mitchell's song: "They paved paradise and put up a parking lot."
