"Can we fix it?" "Yes we can!"
That's the credo of Bob the Builder, the animated star of the eponymous kids show. Construction worker Bob and his crew of handy pals have made the National Museum of Play their home for the fall with the exhibit "Bob the Builder - Project: Build It."
Bob has been a children's television staple since 1998, and since then has entertained and educated countless children on the importance of teamwork and a can-do attitude. The colorful cast includes Bob's business partner Wendy, plus anthropomorphized construction vehicles including Scoop the Digger, Lofty the Crane, Roley the Steamroller, and Dizzy the Cement Mixer.
The "Project: Build It" exhibit brings Bob and his crew to life with activities geared toward kids ages 2 to 6. Hands-on activities include the "Build the Machine Shelter," where kids can help create a shelter for the construction vehicles; "Water Pump," which offers an eco-friendly message; and more. A variety of special Bob the Builder events will take place throughout the exhibit's run, including this weekend, when kids can meet Bob in person Friday through Monday.
"Bob the Builder - Project: Build It" continues at Strong - National Museum of Play through January 6. The museum is located at 1 Manhattan Square. The museum is open Mondays-Thursdays 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Fridays 10 a.m.-8 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sundays noon-5 p.m. Admission is $7-$9.
