As a promoter John Nugent brings an incredibly diverse group of acts to the Rochester International Jazz Festival. In fact, there's only one thing that stays constant night after night: after all the acts have performed, Nugent will turn up with his saxophone at the jam session with the Bob Sneider Trio. He is such a fiery player, and deeply into the music, you could almost come to the conclusion that the jam sessions are his reason for putting on the festival. The spirit of that after-hours jam is captured on "All Through The Night," a recent CD by Sneider, Mike Melito, and Phil Flanigan, with several guests. Nugent can be heard cutting loose on "You and the Night and the Music" and "Marilyn's Dilemma."
