While eBay remains the reigning ruler of online auctions, many local agencies have stepped into this virtual trading pit. In 2001, WXXI launched its yearly auction online and won two PBS Development Awards for its innovation. With such local success as an example, it's no wonder that The Little Theatre Film Society is following the trend.
Peter Monacelli, who normally manages the Little's art exhibits, asked 22 former exhibitors to donate works. Bidders have until Friday, November 16, to put in the highest offer for the original artworks. Bids are taken online only by going to thelittleartauction.cmarket.co. All works are also on display in The Little Café, open Sundays-Thursdays, 5-10 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays until 11 p.m., with a computer available for bidding. The Café is located behind the theatre at 240 East Avenue.
