DANCE: Viennese Ball (11/10)

Published by Susannah Snider on Nov 07, 2007

For people sick of the grindin' and bumpin' that dominate most college parties, the University of Rochester offers a classy alternative. The annual Viennese Ball is the model of refinement. Guests in tuxedos and ball gowns twirl to the strains of Brahms' "Liebeslieder Waltzer" and nibble on dainty refreshments. The University Chamber Orchestra and University Chamber Singers will provide live music throughout the night, including waltzes and other classical dances. This elegant tradition has been steadily gaining popularity in the community - this year it expands to include swing dancing - so get on your fanciest shoes and hit the dance floor.

The Viennese Ball takes place Saturday, November 10, at 9 p.m. in Wilson Commons. Tickets cost $10 in advance and $13 at the door. Advance tickets are on sale at the Common Market in Wilson Commons or online at choiceticketing.com/rochester.
