Classical groups often pop up in unexpected places. Rochester quintet Quartsemble is currently generating buzz by gigging at the Flipside Bar and Grill. The string quintet's upcoming Christmas celebration gives you the chance to drink, eat, and be merry in style with no stuffy rules about when to clap. "When Quartsemble plays at the Flipside," quintet member Diego Garcia wrote on a recent blog, "there is no published program. We loosely plan several sets, but we might change based on the mood of the audience, and we may even take a request or two. I love the fact that I can play chamber music for an audience I can interact with...Clapping in between movements is welcome. Yelling ‘Bravo' after someone plays a virtuosic lick is OK."
