Jeanie Bryson has a sultry voice reminiscent of Peggy Lee and an unfailing ability to swing. How could it be otherwise? She's the daughter of Dizzy Gillespie and songwriter Connie Bryson. Bryson's husband, Coleman Mellet, is a superb guitarist who has worked with Joe Williams, Frank Wess, Etta Jones, and others. And if you wondered who the mystery guitarist was at Chuck Mangione's Friends & Love concerts last spring, it was Mellet. He currently occupies the guitar chair in Mangione's band, a position held in the mid-1990's by Bob Sneider, who will host him and Bryson at the Strathallan.
