"Don't gimme no jive" is one of the first things you hear on this Buffalo quartet's full-length album. And, while you could throw a rock and hit 10 bands who claim to be real-deal rock and roll, Handsome Jack isn't jiving. Unlike those who perpetually stroke their garage image, Handsome Jack is more interested in actually being a band than being in a band to look cool. About as unpretentious look-wise as you can get, Handsome Jack comes from a straightahead angle at all times, but it comes at you with everything it's got and stretches its AC/DC-inspired foundation in different directions on every song.
