Holidays. Bah Humbug. The most whined about reason for dissing the season is lack of money. So many gifts to buy, so little moolah. So the Volunteers of America have come up with a solution: For 10 bucks you can get a ride on a magic bus to five different VOA store locations, and they even throw in a box lunch. A very thrifty idea!
On Saturday, December 8, at 9 a.m. buses will depart from the VOAs at 4756 Lake Avenue and 827 Ridge Road in Webster. (The bus from 3778 Route 31 in Palmyra leaves at 10 a.m.) Each bus will sweep the different stores (including Greece and Brockport), where you can get all the items on your list and have all your shopping done in one day, minus the many shopping irritations like parking, pushy sales clerks, and perfume sprayers. You'll be delivered back to your starting location at 5 p.m., hopefully laden with gifts. And you'll be a Good Samaritan to boot! All proceeds help fund the VOA, which yearly serves more than 10,000 people in the Rochester area.
Tickets must be purchased in advance, so call 766-2728 to reserve your seat.
