SPORTS: WWE (12/18)

Published by Dale Evans on Dec 11, 2007

"Sweaty, beefy, wrasslin' men are coming." This description is stolen from my editor, but it says it all.

If you were to read up the current goings-on in the wrestling organization WWE, you might become confused and think you were reading the script notes from an old episode of "Dynasty." Lots of family wheelings and dealings, betrayals - but no shoulder pads. As for the actual product produced (which in this case means in live venues, on telly, in film, and superimposed on too many items to list), it's called "professional" wrestling, which is a simulated sport and performance art. This is not the wrestling of high school and singlets.

Let's rumble Tuesday, December 18, at 7:30 p.m. at the Blue Cross Arena, 100 Exchange Street. Tickets cost $20-$60 and can be bought at ticketmaster.com or by calling 232-1900.
