As it is for many of the modern purveyors of the form, zydeco and Creole music is a family business for Dexter Ardoin. His grandfather Bois Sec, his father Morris, and his cousins Chris and Sean all pursued careers in the genre. In fact, Ardoin cut his teeth as a drummer for his cousins. Now he has his own band, the Creole Ramblers, with whom he skillfully blends the cultural influences of zydeco and Creole. On Saturday, Ardoin will headline the Rochester Cajun Zydeco Network's Creole Christmas Party. Opening for him will be Redline Zydeco, local gurus of the traditional sounds of southwest Louisiana.
