If you've ever wondered what those city and neighborhood design charrettes are worth and what they produce, Rochester Regional Community Design Center provides an answer in the form of an example. The goal of charrettes is to involve people in the design of their city and urban landscapes, and to create community dialogue. From Friday, February 16, through May 25, architectural design boards and drawings from other U.S. cities will be on display to highlight successful renewal and development projects. It's a chance to see how individual input contributes to the big picture.
The Design Center is located at 1115 East Main Street. Viewing hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.; admission is free and open to the public. For more information go to www.rrcdc.org or call 271-0520. To see the public input on redeveloping Rochester, explore www.reshapingrochester.com.
