Congratulations to Krestia DeGeorge for his article on the fate of Hemlock and Canadice Lakes. It makes me happy to know that there are other people who can see what it would be to lose such a great natural resource and water-supply system. It provides a pristine source of water for Rochester.
Selling off the land to make a fast buck is not the answer to our fiscal woes. The money will come and disappear, along with the natural resource. The system is low cost, gravity-fed, and low-maintenance. What could be better?
I don't want to knock Lake Ontario water, because that's the water I have to drink, but when you think of all the municipalities that empty their sewage into the Great Lakes, I get a little queasy. There is no question which water source is better.
Don't let a few misguided people make bad decisions for all of us.
