POLITICS: Brennan may seek Stevenson's seat

Published by Tim Louis Macaluso on Feb 08, 2007
The sun hadn't set on Bob Stevenson's retirement announcement yesterday when the first potential candidate for his City Council seat popped up. Stevenson, a Democrat who has held the northwest district seat since 1988, plans to retire when his term ends in December. Shortly after Stevenson's press conference, School Board member Tom Brennan called to say he might want the seat.

Brennan hasn't made a formal announcement, but he said he's interested in many of the same things that Stevenson has supported. A resident of the Maplewood neighborhood for the last 12 years, Brennan published the Tenth Ward Courier community newspaper until 2000. He was elected to the School Board in 2005. He wouldn't have to give up that position to run for City Council.
