The House of Representatives voted this afternoon to oppose President Bush's plan to send more troops to Iraq. The vote was 246 to 182 in favor of the resolution opposing the troop build-up, with Rochester-area representatives split on the measure.

Democrat Louise Slaughter and Republican James Walsh supported the resolution opposing the Bush plan. Republicans Randy Kuhl and Tom Reynolds voted against the resolution.

Two Democrats voted against the resolution, and two did not vote.

Seventeen Republicans voted with the Democratic majority in favor of the resolution. Four -- including former House Speaker Dennis Hastert -- did not vote.
