Peters and Parks have teamed up with Zander Schloss (formerly of Weirdos and the Circle Jerks), Nate Shaw (ex-Skulls, ex-The Women), and Jamie Reidling (also from U.S. Bombs) to form Die Hunns.
Despite that punk pedigree, Die Hunns is a whole lot more rock 'n' roll --- even thoughtful and melodious in spots --- than the previous insanity its members have been associated with. The new album You Rot Me sounds like that mid-'70s pre-punk rock that surfaced full of ragged rebellion and classic rock riffs, before it got labeled, co-opted, and used up. And like bands of that era, groups like Die Hunns are here once again to remind us what's truly important when the majority of rock music gets off track and loses its way. You'd think we'd know by now.
Dig Die Hunns when it plays with Bludwulf, Triglactigon, and Swab Wednesday, February 21, at the Bug Jar, 219 Monroe Avenue, 454-2966, 9 p.m., $8-$10.
