Over the river and through the woods, to Granger Homestead and Carriage Museum we go! At this point we're all pretty weary of winter, and the somewhat redeeming factor of shoveling-as-exercise just isn't doing it anymore. But for a sleigh ride, snow is bliss. Every Sunday afternoon through mid-March (weather permitting), Granger Homestead offers this old-time treat. In fully restored antique sleighs (not wagons!), under cozy lap blankets, while sleigh bells ring, you'll dash through the woods and over the snow-covered grounds of the historic mansion. And they top off your adventure with hot chocolate.
The Granger Homestead is located at 295 North Main Street in Canandaigua. Call 394-1472 beforehand to check on conditions and availability. Sleigh rides take place 1-3 p.m., and are $5 for adults, $3 for children ages 4-12, and children under 4 are free. www.grangerhomestead.org.
