You're 14 months old now, and you're starting to realize how varied and interesting the world is around you. You inspect everything. If there's a rug, you'll lift a corner to see what's underneath, even if you checked it yesterday. If there's a box, you'll find a way to open it. The CD shelf is within reach and you open every case, as if hoping that one of them will have something new and exciting inside. (I had figured you wouldn't bother with the CDs again if I finally let you open them all and sit amongst the shiny wreckage until bored. That decision is now a cautionary tale. I'm going to have to buy Sgt. Pepper's again.)
You'll notice the smallest speck on the floor as you totter by, and stop to examine it. You'll turn it over in your hands, studying all sides or contours like it's a gem to be appraised. You'll gnaw on just about everything, but lately you've narrowed your oral fixation to shoes. We've told you a hundred times no, that they're dirty and not for eating, but it hasn't done any good. And there are only so many places we can hide all the shoes before doing so becomes impractical. Wise up to the inedibility of shoes, kid. Come on.
This stage you're in seems to be all about pulling things apart, tearing things up, knocking things to the floor, and generally destroying anything susceptible to your range of strength. Well done. Now on to the next stage. Please?
