Legendary guitarist Jim Hall called Peter Bernstein "the most impressive young guitarist I've heard. He plays the best of them all for swing, logic, feel and taste." That was in the early 1990s. Since then Bernstein, a fixture on the New York scene, has led all-star groups with Brad Mehldau, Christian McBride, Larry Goldings, Jimmy Cobb, Eric Alexander, Bill Stewart, and others. When Bernstein ventures upstate to the Strathallan this weekend he'd better be ready for a duel of the guitar titans. Rochester's own monster jazz guitarist, Bob Sneider, should be up to the task of taking on his special guest.
Peter Bernstein joins the Bob Sneider group from 8:30 p.m.-midnight, Friday and Saturday, April 6 and 7, at the Strathallan, 550 East Avenue, 461-5010, no cover.
