ROCK: Burning Daylight (4/7)

Published by Frank De Blase on Apr 04, 2007

Though the band doesn't make a point about it, I think Burning Daylight would like to remain uncategorized. And that's hard to do, what with people's discerning tastes and musical hang-ups. Most won't take a chance unless they know exactly what something is. If you wanna be surprised and entertained, then read no further and just go to this outstanding triple bill. If'n you're unadventurous or just plain chicken, read on: Burning Daylight is a fascinating roots rock band that blends just enough pop to attract non-roots fans without alienating those who are. The same goes for Blue Jimmy, though that band can be a little more country in spots. And The Mercies offer big, dreamy pop, the kind the Brits used to make. You just had to know, didn't you?

Burning Daylight's CD release show with guests The Mercies, Blue Jimmy, and The Corrections, takes place Saturday, April 7, Bug Jar, 219 Monroe Avenue, 454-2966, 9 p.m., $6. www.bugjar.com.
