ARTS: 2007-08 Arts & Lecture Series Announced

The line-up for the 2007-08 Arts & Lecture Series has been released. This year's crop of high-profile literary types includes:

-Daniel Handler, the author of the hugely popular "Lemony Snicket" series for young readers (October 4)

-Robert Hass, former United States poet laureate (November 8)

-Claire Messud, author of "The Emperor's Children," "The Last Life," etc. (December 6)

-Chip Kidd, the rock star of the graphic design world ("Jurassic Park") and novelist ("The Cheese Monkeys") (March 13)

-Kenneth Turan, film critic for The Los Angeles Times and NPR's "Morning Edition" (April 17)

-Allegra Goodman, author of "Kaaterskill Falls," "The Family Markowitz," "Paradise Park" (May 8)

All lectures are held at the Downtown United Presbyterian Church, 121 North Fitzhugh Street. Tickets are sold by subscription to all six lectures and are currently on sale to past subscribers for $120-$575.
