BREAKING NEWS: Obama gets Secret Service protection

CNN is reporting that Senator Barak Obama has been placed under US Secret Service protection. The CNN web post says that few details have been released but that "no specific threat has been made against Obama." A Washington Post article notes that both John Edwards and John Kerry requested and received Secret Service protection in February 2004 during their campaign for the Democratic nomination. Obama's protection comes considerably earlier in the race. (Hillary Clinton already receives protection because of her status as a former first lady.)
