Published by Frank De Blase on May 08, 2007

To celebrate the life of Mstislav Rostropovich, the man that many considered the world's greatest cellist and a defender of human rights and artistic freedom, eight Eastman-trained cellists will play a show Wednesday, May 9, at the Bop Shop Atrium. , The rather adventurous and exploratory Lauren Radnofsky will be among the musicians paying homage. All proceeds go to AIDS vaccination research through the Vishnevskaya-Rostropovich Foundation, which the late cellist founded with his wife in 1991.

The Bop Shop is located inside Village Gate at 274 North Goodman Street, 271-3354, 8 p.m., $8 (suggested donation).
