THEATER: "Ragtime" (5/11-6/3)

Published on May 08, 2007

If you think these first few years of the 21st century have been complicated, consider the patchwork portrait of the early 20th century painted by E.L. Doctorow in "Ragtime." Blackfriars stages the musical version of the nostalgic novel starting Friday, May 11, and continuing through June 3. The show includes three stories that detail some of the critical issues of the early 1900s, including poverty, racism, and more. To liven things up expect rousing vaudeville- and ragtime-inspired tunes.

"Ragtime" opens Friday, May 11, and continues Saturday, May 12, both shows at 8 p.m. Tickets are$12-$24. Blackfriars is located at 28 Lawn Street. For a full schedule or ticketing information call 454-1260 or visit www.blackfriars.org.
