DEVELOPMENT: In support of the Rite Aid project

Published on Jun 21, 2007

I agree wholeheartedly with Louis Richards' letter concerning the proposed demolition of the buildings on the corner of Monroe and Goodman and the future Rite-Aid there. I wonder if anyone in the neighborhood has been polled about this issue. I have never been asked what I think about it. All this boils down to is a small group of people who speak for everyone.

I would like to let the developers of this project know that there are people in this neighborhood who want to see it improve. I am not the only one, and I don't think it's right that SEAD speaks for all of us.

I think the developer has bent over backwards to try to come up with a plan that will fit in with SEAD's idea of a city neighborhood. Soon we may lose the prospect of the development altogether, and those two run-down buildings and the vacant lots next to them will sit there for another 20 years while the neighborhood association stews over what to do with them.
