The Brockport-based Generation Cool program has a whole new series of events lined up to keep your kids entertained this summer. The fun kicks off this week and continues every Friday, 7-8 p.m., culminating in a huge block party in mid-August. Here's the schedule rundown:
-June 8: WOWEE Wildlife Local wildlife show featuring snakes, tortoises, lemurs, foxes, and other exotic creatures from around the world.
-June 15: Stories and Dances of Universal Peace Multicultural dances that explore alternative storytelling.
-June 22: Dinner Dogs The popular local kid-music group is back with dance-friendly tunes.
-June 29: Rochester Children's Theater The troupe presents "Gooney Bird Greene."
-July 6: Water Wizards The Little Science Wizards perform a variety of hands-on science experiments.
-July 20: Catskill Puppet Theater The group uses huge puppets to tell the tale of the "The Lions Whiskers."
-July 27: Kids Project Red Cross-sponsored puppet troupe uses near-life-sized puppets made by kids with special needs to demonstrate differences and similarities between people.
-August 3: Push Physical Theatre/Funshop Choreographed dances for kids to learn and perform.
-August 10: Airplay The juggling duo performs high-energy routines.
-August 11: Generation Cool Block Party Day-long event featuring tons of kid-oriented activities, including pet therapy animals from Lollypop Farm, 19th century festival games from Genesee County Museum, the RPO's instrument petting zoo, a drum jam, magic shows, chess games, and more.
All events takes place at Sagawa Park, corners of Erie and Main streets in Brockport (in case of rain the events will be moved inside to the First Baptist Church next door). All events are free (bring blankets and chairs for comfort). For more information visit www.generationcool.biz.
