Anyone looking for a throwback to the world of mid-'90s rap and hip-hop (think Coolio, 2Pac, Skee-lo) would do well to check out Bone Thugs-N-Harmony this week at Water Street Music Hall. Though now only a trio, the remaining members continue to record and tour, currently in support of "Strength & Loyalty," released earlier this year. Bridging a gap between the soft ballad crooning Boyz II Men and tougher, grittier rap groups, Bone Thugs successfully meshed street-focused lyrics with hummable, memorable melodies dealing with real-life issues. Special guests Lil Scrappy, One Pham and Glory help keep the flow going all night.
Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, with guests Lil Scrappy, One Pham and Glory perform Friday, June 22, at the Water Street Music Hall, 204 North Water Street, 325-5600, 8 p.m., $25. 21+
