Alright, we've been begging for it for years. And in recent history bands like Jet have been dishing out those rabidly irresistible pop hooks. And in this resurgence Ok Go is easily the best pop band today.
My brother-in-law and I were recently waxing nostalgic, reminiscing about Joe Jackson's "Look Sharp" and all that powerful smart pop in the early '80s - The Knack, The Cars, even The Kinks (I mean, have you listened to "Low Budget" lately?) - that despite it's sweet accessibility and dance appeal was still actually good for you. And like so many bands in that era whose careers were introduced and immortalized on video, Ok Go will remain forever in our hearts for the glorious treadmill choreography and even the music on the tune "Here It Goes Again."
Ok Go opens for The Fray, with Mae, Sunday June 17, at Darien Lake Performing Arts Center, 9993 Allegheny Road, Darien Center, 232-1900, 7:30 p.m., $20-$45, all ages.
