Three minutes might not sound like long. But if you're standing in front of a crowd, reading a dramatic monologue of your own creation, it could feel like an eternity. Sound fun? Write your three-minute masterpiece and go to the Performance Slam Competition held by Writers & Books in collaboration with Geva Theatre on Monday, June 18. If reading isn't your thing, write a monologue and have it performed by an actor, or just sit and listen. The audience gets to vote on winners, who get prizes.
The event begins at 7 p.m. at the Verb Café in Writers and Books, 740 University Avenue, and admission is free. Call 473-2590 or visit www.wab.org for more information.
