PROG ROCK: Roger Waters (7/12)

Published by Ryan Whirty on Jul 11, 2007

One of the most popular - and, unfortunately, overplayed - albums in rock history is Pink Floyd's space-prog epic "The Dark Side of the Moon." Since it came out in 1973, "Dark Side" has captivated listeners' imagination (especially if those listeners are medicated). Now, 34 years later, the primary visionary behind that album, former Floyd lead stoner Roger Waters, is touring in celebration of the album, playing "Dark Side" in its entirety at every show. And he's pulling out all the stops doing it - geysers of flame, confetti, bubbles, prop airplanes and lunar capsules, and all sorts of other wacky gimmicks that apparently bring the album to life, or something like that.

On Thursday, July 12, Waters brings his extravaganza to Darien Lake Performing Arts Center, 9993 Alleghany Road in Darien Center, at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $29.50-$131 (yes, you read that right, $131) and are available through Ticketmaster, www.ticketmaster.com or 232-1900. Note that the show has been moved up one day from its original date.
