ROCK: Big City Summer Fest (7/19-7/22)

Published by Frank De Blase on Jul 18, 2007

Apparently you need beer and wine to have a good time. So the schedule-disrupting fiasco in regards to legally pouring said libations at Big City Summer Fest's first weekend has been addressed. Other than the shows at BRU (former Empire Brewing Co.) all shows will now be outside, where the liquid joy can flow free and legal.

This weekend is the World Beat spoke in Big City Summer Fest's wheel, and nobody beats the world or spreads polyrhythmic glee more than my pick of the Fest, Rochester's The Buddhahood. Fama Sin Gafas brings the Latin boogaloo and will make you feel sexy all over, and The Samples will show you why they've been doing this forever. The weekend reaches its peak with nu-blues chiquita Susan Tedeschi with Soulive at Highland Bowl.

Big City Summer Fest continues Thursday through Sunday, July 19-22, at various stages in the High Falls district. Outdoor shows free. Admission to shows in the former Empire Brewing Co. cost $15 at the door, or $40 for a three-day pass. Susan Tedeschi with guests Soulive play Sunday, July 22, at Highland Bowl, 3:15 p.m., $30.
