BLUEGRASS: Alison Krauss (8/3)

Published by Ryan Whirty on Aug 01, 2007

Alison Krauss was a 14-year-old fiddling prodigy when she was signed by Rounder Records. Over the ensuing two decades, she has become perhaps the most recognizable face of modern bluegrass, an artist able to adopt just about any genre and incorporate it into her music while remaining true to the music's traditions. Along with her backing band, Union Station, Krauss has garnered more than 20 Grammys and recorded duets with a dizzying array of artists, and she's become a successful producer as well. Her latest release, "A Hundred Miles or More: A Collection," encapsulates her career and reflects her diverse abilities.

Alison Krauss and Union Station featuring Jerry Douglas play the CMAC on Lakeshore Drive on the FLCC campus in Canandaigua on Friday, August 3, at 8 p.m. Tickets are $25-$75 and can be purchased through Ticketmaster. Call 232-1900 for more information.
