Continuing its big summer of kid-friendly shows, the Rochester Children's Theatre brings "Seussical: The Musical"to its home base at Nazareth College Saturday and Sunday, August 3 and 4. Last week RCT premiered the show at its first-ever performance at CMAC.
As you might gather from the name, "Seussical"brings to life the stories of Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known as the hyper-imaginative rhyming fan Dr. Seuss. His most famous of creations, The Cat in the Hat, acts as narrator, and the plot follows several of Seuss' books, most notably "Horton Hears a Who!" Also look for appearances from a variety of Seuss' most beloved characters throughout the play.
Nazareth College is located at 4245 East Avenue. Shows this weekend take place at the Arts Center starting at 7 p.m. Admission is $15. For more information or to buy tickets call the Nazareth box office at 389-2170.
RCT also concludes its 2007 Theatre on the Lawn series Sunday, August 19, with two shows of the C.S. Lewis adaptation "The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe." Watch as two people and a trunkful of masks and costumes bring the legendary fantasy novel to life. You can catch the show twice that day, at noon at Canandaigua Inn on the Lake (770 South Main Street, Canandaigua) or at 4 p.m. at the Nazareth College grounds. Admission is $7. Bring blankets, chairs, and your own picnic baskets. Call 385-0510 or check www.rochesterchildrenstheatre.org for rain locations and more information.
