SPECIAL EVENT: Mt. Hope Ice Cream Tours (8/11)

Published on Aug 08, 2007

Hand-crafted hot fudge sauce. Sit with that for a moment. Mulberry-, ginger-, and apple cream-flavored ice cream. Delish!

Justin Gastel of I Scream Ice Cream is the perfect accompaniment to Mount Hope Cemetery's Ice Cream Tours. As a celebration of the 200th anniversary of the ice cream cone, the tour visits graves of people involved with the treat, including the founder of the first Rochester ice cream parlor, a milk inspector, and the founder of the nation's largest supplier of soda fountains. And it concludes with those delicacies mentioned above, and more, specially prepared from Victorian-era recipes.

This special tour takes place Saturday, August 11, and begins at the south entrance of Mount Hope Cemetery, 1133 Mount Hope Avenue. Tours depart at 1:30, 2, and 2:30 p.m. and last approximately 90 minutes. Tickets are $4. Call 461-3493 for the information line, or visit www.fomh.org for a full listing of events.
