Aaron Copland only wrote one full-length opera. Because "The Tender Land" lacks the stark drama of a Puccini work, it's never been all that popular. But if you like Copland's ballet music, grab the chance to see "The Tender Land" staged by Mercury Opera. Poignant and lyrical, the opera is set on a farm in the Midwest during the Depression. The Mercury Opera Orchestra will be conducted by Gerard Floriano, with stage direction by Steven Daigle.
