COST OF WAR: The Iraq conflict by the numbers (9/5/07)

TOTALS - 3735 U.S. soldiers, 297 Coalition soldiers, and approximately 71,017 to 77,555 Iraqi civilians have been killed in Iraq from the beginning of the war and occupation to August 31.

6091 Iraqi policemen and guardsmen have been killed since January 2005, according to an estimate compiled from news reports.

American servicemen and -women killed between August 22-29:

-- Sgt. Joshua L. Morley, 22, Boise, Idaho.

-- Spc. Tracy C. Willis, 21, Marshall, Texas.

-- Sgt. James S. Collins Jr., 35, Rochester Hills, Mich.

-- Capt. Erick M. Foster, 29, Wexford, Penn.

-- Cpl. John C. Tanner, 21, Columbus, Ga.

-- Spc. Edward L. Brooks, 25, Dayton, Ohio.
