Governor Spitzer has approved the Rochester school district's plan to rehabilitate old and deteriorated schools. Legislation sponsored by Senator Joe Robach and Assembly member David Gantt provides $325 million for work on 13 schools, the first phase of the 10-year project. The next step: Mayor Bob Duffy and Interim Schools Superintendent Bill Cala will appoint an independent, seven-member board to oversee the work.
