FESTIVAL: Clothesline Festival (9/8 & 9/9)

The M&T Clothesline Festival at Memorial Art Gallery is one of the premier art events of the year. In addition to dozens of quality artists and crafters showing and selling their work, this year's installment - the festival's 51st - features some changes. The grounds have been reorganized, with the food vendors mostly centralized to the back lawn. And the entertainment stage has been moved to a covered location and will feature local acts both days of the festival.
If you're heading to Clothesline, make sure to sign up for City's Smock-Painting Contest, taking place on MAG grounds both days of the festival. We provide the smocks and the paint, you provide your budding artistic talent. You can win up to $100 (for adults) or some seriously snazzy art supplies (for kids). The Smock-Painting Contest costs $8 for kids 12 and under, $12 for adults 13 and up.
The Clothesline Festival runs Saturday, September 8, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., and Sunday, September 9, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Admission costs $7/day, children 12 and under free. The Memorial Art Gallery is located at 500 University Ave. A free shuttle bus runs from the parking garage at East Main and Scio streets, or the Genesee Hospital Garage on Alexander Street.
