JAZZ: Diane Schuur (9/26)

Published by Ron Netsky on Sep 19, 2007

Singer Diane Schuur first caught the attention of the jazz world when Stan Getz was knocked out by her performance of "Amazing Grace" at the Monterey Jazz Festival in the mid-1970s. Getz arranged for her to perform at a televised showcase at the White House. Since then she has covered a wide range of musical territory on 21 albums. In recent years Schuur has proved to be as comfortable with the songs of Stevie Wonder and James Taylor as she is with those of Duke Ellington and Cole Porter. Schuur will be the featured guest when Lifetime Assistance Inc. presents its 11th Annual Inspiration Award at Nazareth Arts Center.

Diane Schuur plays Wednesday, September 26, at Nazareth Arts Center, 4245 East Avenue, 7 p.m., $35-$50, 389-2170, naz.edu/artscenter.
