ROCK 'N' ROLL: Uncle Scratch's Gospel Revival (9/15)

Published by Frank De Blase on Sep 12, 2007

With all the trouble in the world centered around God and all his trouble-making minions, lets' give the devil a shot, shall we. Uncle Scratch's Gospel Revival is a lo-fi (just dig the cardboard drums) gutbucket, hillbilly damnation tent revival where all that's missing are the live rattlesnakes, the speaking in tongues, and, well, God. This double-knit guitar and drums duo is hysterical, contrary, and ironic. Just remember it's only temptation if you resist; give in and it's merely a suggestion. And I strongly suggest you go see this band... or you can go to hell.

Uncle Scratch's Gospel Revival, The Quitters, and Cleveland's The Whiskey Daredevils play Saturday, September 15, Bug Jar, 219 Monroe Avenue, 454-2966, 9 p.m., $6
