Blending reggae, Afro-Caribbean, and American roots sounds, the Sim Redmond Band produces music that almost floats. It's airy, bouncy, and most decidedly influenced by and emulating of the music of West and South Africa. Taking cues from Paul Simon, singer/songwriter Redmond and his cohorts create a world beat with pop hooks. Since 1999, the Ithaca-based band has been recording for I-Town Records, including the band's latest, 2006's "Each New Day."
