Jennifer Hecker still plays with dolls. In her first show as the new sculptor-in-residence at Renaissance Art Gallery, her bronze-cast dolls create a medium for her to explore what growing up female is all about. Her show, titled "Godlesses: Icon, Relics, Martyrs & Saints," deals with adult issues like war, aging, and sexuality. Yet the presence of the dolls casts an eerie shadow on the show.
An opening reception take place Friday, January 11, at 5:30 p.m.; the exhibit runs through February 15. Renaissance Art Gallery is located at 74 Saint Paul Street with normal operating hours of Tuesday-Saturday 11 a.m.-5 p.m. The gallery's number is 423-8235 and its website is rochesterrenaissanceartgallery.com.
