Jena footage to air

RCTV-15 will present "From Jena to Rochester: Racism in America" on Thursday, January 17. Footage from Jena will be shown and WDKX's Tariq Spence will moderate audience questions from 5 to 7 p.m. at 21 Gorham Street.

Mentor training

The Faith Community Adult Mentoring Project will hold a two-day training program on Monday, January 21 and Tuesday, January 22 for those who want to help parolees and probationers re-enter the community. Volunteers must attend both sessions at Friends Meeting House, 84 Scio Street, from 5 to 9 p.m. Registration: 325-7727.

Cleared terror suspect speaks

The UR will present "Crossing the Line: Interdisciplinary Work in a Society of Fear," a lecture by SUNY Buffalo Professor Steven Kurtz, on Thursday, January 24 at 5 p.m. in the Rush Rhees Library. Kurtz was accused of bioterrorism in 2004 by the FBI. The following night, Friday, January 25, the award-winning film that chronicles Kurtz's legal drama, "Strange Culture," will be shown at the George Eastman House, Dryden Theatre, at 8 p.m. The lecture is free. Film tickets: general admission $6, students $5, Eastman House members $4.

Sprawl forum

The Henrietta Democratic Committee will hold a forum with former Rochester Mayor Bill Johnson, and Brighton Town Supervisor Sandra Frankel on Tuesday, January 22. They will discuss government consolidation and suburban sprawl at the Riverton Community Center, 280 Scottsville-West Henrietta Road, at 7 p.m.

Learning about wind power

Wind Information and Responsible Energy will hold a wind power forum on Thursday, January 17 at the South Alabama Fire Department, Recreation Hall, Judge Road, Alabama, N.Y., at 7 p.m. Information: www.wirealabama.org.

Young to give King address

The UR will present Andrew Young, former US Ambassador to the United Nations, on Monday, January 21. Young will deliver the university's annual Martin Luther King Commemorative Address in the Strong Auditorium, River Campus, at 6:30 p.m.

Civil Rights leader at Nazareth

Nazareth College will present a lecture by Civil Rights leader and Harvard law professor Charles Ogletree on Monday, January 21 in the Nazareth Arts Center at 4:30 p.m.

Hamlin dishes wind-tower regs

The Hamlin Town Board will conduct a wind-tower workshop to discuss regulations on Tuesday, January 22 at 1658 Lake Road, Hamlin, at 6 p.m.

Obama rally

Rochester Democrats for Barack Obama will hold a pre-primary rally on Saturday, January 19 at Venu Resto-Lounge, 151 St. Paul Street, at 1 p.m.
