After Bob Dylan saw "The Three Penney Opera" by Kurt Weill, he said, "I was aroused straightaway by the raw intensity of the songs." Light, dark, and relevant since the day it premiered, the music speaks of a strange time in history, the late 1920's. The opera was recently revived in Berlin. Violinist Zvi Zeitlin and pianist Barry Snyder offer seven pieces from "The Threepenny Opera" on Sunday. The varied program also includes a Baroque miniature, a funky sonata by Poulenc, comforting romance by Schubert, and Berlioz's "Reverie et Caprice."
