ENVIRONMENT: Population and pollution

Published on Jan 09, 2008
Concerning Ken Bristol's thesis on overpopulation being the biggest contributor to global warming (The Mail, December 26): I really see no solution. We all will eventually be as extinct as the dinosaurs. Remember Easter Island?

Sure there could be draconian measures instituted for population control, but would they apply to ruling classes or to other burgeoning nations? There would soon be less of us and more of them, to overwhelm the earth.

China has tried, with laws limiting families to no more than one child. In a way, Hitler also did, putting his power against another ethic group. But do we really want any more thought in that direction, and with the vain thought of "lessening pollution" around the world?
