Elizabeth Streb, declared a "genius" by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, is best known for her worldwide touring dance company. This week she comes to speak on "The Limitless Imagination of the Muscles & the Bones: Action in Time & Space" as an invitee of the Caroline Werner Gannett Lecture Series. It's a fitting topic for someone who was once called the Evil Knievel of Dance. Her self-named PopAction dance style intertwines athletic ability, circus acrobatics, and Hollywood-type stunt work. It's "extreme" dancing, ignoring the overuse of that term.
Streb's lecture on Monday, January 7, at 7 p.m. at RIT's Carlson Auditorium is free and open to the public. For more information and a complete list of CWG lectures, visit rit.edu/~cwg.
