Once upon a time there were demolition derbies. Uncle Billy and Cousin Al would vamp up a junker and on derby night they'd take the box of metal down to the county fair and ram it into other boxes of metal for all they were worth. It was kinda like adult-only bumper cars. The United States Hot Rod Association was watching, heard Opportunity's knock, and monster trucks were added as another of their promoted motor sports. A true Made-in-America event was born.
See enormous trucks running into things when the Thunder Nationals come to the Blue Cross Arena January 4-6 with shows Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday.
